The Core Team

Angela Mathis

Angela Mathis is a senior business executive with over 20 years’ international management and commercial experience in global, technology-based companies; PSINet, Lucent Technologies, Iomega and Imperial Chemical Industries. She is a reputed European expert in international strategy, marketing, sales and channel development. She has lived and worked in France, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland, and throughout her career she has operated in markets as diverse as aerospace, performance chemicals, explosives, automotive, IT & Datacoms. Her particular expertise has been to evolve embryonic technology products and services into multi-million Euro concerns, as well as to internationalise successful local or national companies.

Hannu Rajaniemi

Hannu was born in Finland and completed a B.Sc. in Mathematics at the University of Oulu. He went on to obtain a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics from Cambridge University and did his national service by working as a research scientist for the Finnish Defence Forces. He has a Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics from Edinburgh University. Hannu is an award-winning science fiction author and has been published in anthologies and magazines in the UK, US and Finland.

Samuel Halliday

Samuel obtained a B.Sc. (with honours) in Physics with Astrophysics at the Queens University of Belfast, he then completed a research based M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics at the University of Cape Town. He has a Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics from Heriot-Watt University. He is co-founder of a major community e-content project, the creation of a free mathematics textbook, distributed online and soon to be released in print across South Africa. Sam has published in Physics World and leads the open source projects OpenLAPI, netlib-java and Matrix Toolkits for Java. OpenLAPI is an open-source toolkit for enabling location-awareness on mobile devices and is used by universities and commercial organisations worldwide.
